In a recent unveiling by CEO Elon Musk at an LA-based event, the new Tesla truck was showcased as an angular experience with extreme sports car acceleration and a futuristic design that rivals the Delorean. With trucks not deviating from the norm in decades, this new design and performance give truck-enthusiasts something else to consider in the future. In addition to the unexpected aesthetics, the design utilizes a hard exoskeleton stainless steel frame that is as tough as nails, as proven when a sledgehammer bounced off the panels with a dent. Slated for launch in 2022, the new Cybertruck will be available with standard all-wheel drive. Keep reading to learn more about the performance, features, and specs of the new Tesla truck.

The Cybertruck is available with up to three electric motors, depending on the model (entry-level has a single motor). All versions feature an adjustable air suspension that can be raised or lowered with the push of a button and have a maximum ground clearance of 16-inches. Additionally, the Cybertruck boasts a 35-degree approach and a 28-degree departure angle making it an excellent candidate as an off-road vehicle. Tesla claims that the Cybertruck can tow an incredible 14,000 pounds in the highest-level model, which is more than the Ram 1500. Each model can also haul 3,500 pounds in the 6.5 ft. cargo bed. Although the size of the batteries is unknown, each model will boast a 250-kW charging cable with two integrated outlets (110 and 220 volt).

Early showings renderings show the interior to be angular and minimalistic to match the exterior details. The front seats feature a bucket design and there will likely be several interior trim color options. The steering wheel will be a half wheel, like a NASCAR steering wheel. There will be a flat-panel LCD screen mounted to the dashboard with the ability to control all functions of the car with the single push of a button. The three-seat back row will be standard seats with the ability to flatten to add space in the flatbed. The rendering model has angular windows on each side with smaller windows in the back and some models will feature a sunroof. The windshield will be large for plenty of visibility of the road ahead.

Currently, not much information is available on the safety features of the vehicle. With that being said, the stainless-steel design is virtually indestructible. Also, the Cybertruck has not yet been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. However, Tesla claims that each model will feature the self-driving autopilot option and the Full Self-Driving option can be added to any model for $7,000. Additional, expect to see the backup camera, Lane Departure Warning, and a variety of other driver-assistance technologies that are becoming more standard on new vehicles. The giant 17-inch touchscreen monitor will be used as an infotainment and safety tool to provide the driver with complete views of their surrounding vehicle.

Three trims are available for the new Cybertruck: Single Motor, Dual Motor, and Tri-Motor. The Single Motor version starts at $39,900 and has a range of around 250 miles. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 110 mph. The towing capacity is 7,500 pounds with a payload of 3,500 pounds. For another $10,000, consumers can purchase the Dual Motor version which features a range of 300 miles, can accelerate to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds, has a top speed of 120 mph, can tow 10,000 pounds, and has a flatbed payload of 3,500 pounds. The top-of-the-line Tri-Motor trim runs at $69,900, has a range of over 500 miles, can accelerate to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, features a top speed of 130 mph, can tow a whopping 14,000 pounds and has a payload of 3,500 pounds.

Although this model will not available until 2022 if you are interested in a very different vehicle design while making a strong environmental impact, consider Tesla’s Cybertruck once launched! You can turn heads on the road and go off-roading in style.
